Selection Report Header Definitions

Explanation of Race Selection Reports

Top Header
Race Number, Race Track Abbr., Date of Race
Conditions: include- Distance of race, Age of Runners in race, and Sex of Horse in race
Available Wager types: list which exotic wagers may be placed in this race
Price: is the purse amount of Race
Class Par: list the Class Number of this particular type of race

Results Section
This section will give payoffs for Win-Place-Show as well as exotic wager payoffs

Race Selections
First portion of this section lists 5 different categories Class, Pace, Connections, Power and Key Races. Class, Pace and Connection categories will select top 4 finishers within that group and list them in ranking order from top to bottom. Power category contains top 4 horses chosen based on all handicapping factors combined. Key Races will list only those horses chosen as our top picks of the day.

Scratch: You may scratch horses by checking the box near the Horses PP number. Then by clicking on the Scratch button the sheets will be recalculated.
PP: Horse's saddlecloth number in today's race
Horse: Horses name
ML Odds: Morning Line Odds
LR: Days since horse has last raced
Run Style: E - Early speed horse - a horse that needs to get out in front
EP - Early Presser Horse who likes the lead or close to front
P - Pressers - Horse not on the lead, but within a few lengths of the lead
S - Sustainer - comes from off the pace
NA - not applicable - style cannot be determined from the available data
F: Form number we have assigned to horse based on number of patterns or angles horse qualifies for
CLS LR: Class number for horse based upon Class of Last Race
CLS L3R: Class number for horse based upon average class of Last 3 Races
W/P% L2Y: Horses W/P Percentage for the last 2 years
W/P% @TRK: Horses W/P percentage at today's track
W/P% @DIST: Horses W/P percentage at today's distance
Spd LR: Speed number assigned to last race. Speed numbers are based upon Class and pace of each track. For instance, if a horse is running at Belmont in the 105 class level, his speed number will be calculated using the par for the 105 class level. If this horse happens to run a 110 in a 105 class we assume this horse is capable of running at the 110 class level. If the horse runs a 100 he is running below his level.
SPD 2R: Speed number of horse's second race back
SPD 3R: Speed number of horse's third race back
Power #: Power number is calculated based on all handicapping factors combined
Adj Odds: Assigned Oddsline by Thorostats

Jockey W/P%: Jockey's combined Win/Place percentage at track
Trainer W/P%: Trainers combined Win/Place percentage at track
Owner W/P%: Owners combined Win/Place percentage at track
Trn-Jky: Using the Trainer and Jockey, calculate combined Win/Place percentage at all tracks in the last year when paired together
Own-Trn: Using the Owner and Trainer, calculate combined Win/Place percentage at all tracks in the last year when paired together

Scratches: Available scratches will be removed and listed in this area
